I've always admired the skilled photographer and their work. My first camera was a polaroid after I begged and pleaded my parents to buy me one for my birthday years ago. Then came my pentax 35mm and I know my family regretted every putting it in my hands! I've always enjoyed the candid moment but I can't say as much for my sister and mom. They were always on their toes and aware when I got the camera in my hand, typically putting up a piece of paper to throw me off.
Fast forward to February of 2009--my first DSLR! After much research I decided to go with the less expensive Nikon D60 in the DSLR line. I will always remember holding the prized box in my hand and sitting there for a good 5 minutes just looking at it, anticipating what was on the inside and imagining all the good times we'd have together. My moment was interrupted when my husband said, "So, you gonna open it up or what?".
I enjoy all kinds of photography but I can't get enough of portrait photography, especially those candid shots! I love to capture my kids in their element, when they think I am not watching. I've only been seriously learning the ins and outs of photography since mid-2009. I enjoy a good edit to give that special picture a bit of creativity and set it apart but sometimes less is best. Ultimately, I know that to get that shot, I have to be in the right place and at the right time.
This is my hobby, something I love. To some, curling up under a blanket with a book is relaxing, to me it's taking my camera out on a good adventure.
